WPM-P001 · ORIGINAL CAD CONCEPT
Self-centering round-stock drilling jig
A workholding study that brings opposed jaws, guided positioning, and a replaceable drill bushing into one assembly.
V30 is a documented design-review checkpoint. Manufacture, holding performance, cutting safety, and machine fit remain unvalidated.

What the concept is trying to do
Round stock needs a defined location and a secure holding arrangement before a drilling operation can be planned. This concept explores opposed V jaws that move toward a shared center, an end-reference arrangement, and an adjustable bridge carrying a replaceable drill bushing.
The CAD establishes nominal component relationships. It does not establish a safe cutting load, achieved accuracy, or suitability for a particular drill press or workpiece.
Locate the stock
Opposed V jaws and guided motion illustrate the intended centering relationship.
Position the guide
The bridge and height-adjustment concept place the bushing relative to the workpiece.
Understand the assembly
Distinct components, a positive handwheel drive, and staged assembly views make the mechanism inspectable.
A manufacturing plan still to prove
A potential route combines machined bodies and jaws with turned drive and guide elements, a replaceable bushing, and selected fastening and retention hardware. Material grades, final fits, tolerances, fixtures, machining setups, and inspection requirements need to be defined and verified before release.
Open engineering gates
- Holding force, stiffness, and drilling torque/thrust requirements
- Functional fits, thread definitions, retaining-ring/groove selection, and tolerance stacks
- Tool, holder, fixture, and actual machine clearances
- Physical prototype, inspection, and a qualified safe-use test plan
Study scope
Concept CAD for review: fits, holding strength, cutting safety, and machine compatibility are unvalidated; thread flanks are simplified.
This is not a manufacturing release. No source package, dimensional print, cost record, or supplier quotation is included. Pricing is in development.
Motion and staged assembly
The video shows guided setup and prescribed component motion, followed by staged assembly. No cutting is simulated. Simplified fastening motion and visual annotations explain the concept; they are not a validated assembly or service procedure.
